Residential Scholar's Lecture, Wednesday 21st July 2010 @ 7pm

Common Theology - letting many voices speak God's story.

Dr Ellen Clark-King

Too often it is only the voices of the academy and the clergy who speak to us about God.  In this lecture we will consider what happens when we listen to some of the seldom-heard voices from the pews.  Dr Clark-King will introduce the results of her research with a group of working-class women from different denominations in a rough neighbourhood in the north-east of England.

  • Who is God for them?
  • What does this teach us about who God is for us?
  • And how do we continue these conversations within our own communities?

The Venerable Dr Ellen Clark-King is currently Archdeacon of Burrard and Priest Associate at Christ Church Cathedral, Vancouver.  She is the author of Theology by Heart:  Women, the Church and God and is on sabbatical at Vaughan Park working on her second book The Path to your DoorAn Introduction to Christian Spirituality.

No Charge.
