before deathly silence
submerging dreams
drowning voices within
surging gain and loss
Eyes fragile desperate
pleading respite
begging hope
for lives to sing
of beauty home peace
Futility behind before
the waters refuse to part
for idols in illusive guise
allowing conflict to
destroy cherished ways
Leaving words
bombs and drones
bringing tears to vapour
in blast shock
and bloodied scream
